Climate change was also taken up by the WSC part- ners – ISO, IEC and ITU – who chose " Tackling climate change through standards " as the theme for World Standards Day, 14 October 2009. They declared in their message : "The three global organizations are coordinating their work to ensure that government, business and society are provided with the necessary tools to help combat global climate change and to support the reduction in greenhouse gas emis sions ISO customer e ISO 14064 standards for green- house gas accounting and verification provide a set of tools for programmes aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emis- sions, as well as for emissions trading. ISO 14064 is compatible with and complementary to the Clean Develop- ment Mechanism (CDM) and Joint Implementation (JI) requirements.
