You can build your own custom perfume in Toronto & the workshop delivers immaculate vibes

August 14, 2025 Jennifer Browne

As far as autumn activities go, this one smells like a 10/10. Orris Labs, a locally owned scent studio with locations in Toronto and Mississauga, is offering hands-on perfume and cologne-making workshops that smell like your mood board came to life.

Forget just shopping for a new fragrance — you can actually make one yourself, complete with warm spices, smoky woods and florals that smell like fall.

Each two-hour session kicks off with a crash course in perfume history and fragrance families, before diving into a choose-your-own-adventure-style blending experience. Plus, until the end of September, when you mention the code "NarcityLabs," you'll get 10% off.

With a large collection of luxury perfume accords to sniff and sample, you'll craft a custom scent that feels as personal as looking in the mirror. You'll also leave with a finished perfume made using clean, non-toxic ingredients, topped off with a personal charm you pick yourself.

To add to this one-of-a-kind fragrance creation experience, guests can bring a photo, a story or some other treasure close to their hearts to use as inspiration. This, combined with a questionnaire, will give the staff everything they need to help you create the most personalized and emotion-filled perfume.

Whether you're looking for a date night that isn't just dinner, an elevated birthday plan, a team building event or the perfect pre-wedding outing, this one ticks all the boxes: It's intimate, creative, and lets you walk away with something beautiful (besides the group pics).

You'll find Orris Labs in two dreamy locations. There's one tucked in the heart of Yorkville, Toronto, and the other by the lake in Port Credit, Mississauga.

Workshops run Tuesdays through Sundays year-round, and each session is designed to be relaxed and unhurried — perfect for anyone who wants to take their time blending, sampling and creating something truly personal.

Pricing varies, especially for larger group bookings, so it's best to check orrislabs.ca for current availability, and don't forget to mention NarcityLabs when you book for 10% off (offer expires September 30, 2025). You can also stalk their latest creations and dreamy setups on Instagram, @orrislabs.
